PHOTOS: Marc Molinaro’s Constituents Hold Halloween Protest Against Terrifying House Proposals
After Voting to Elect Hard-Right Speaker Mike Johnson, the So-Called “Moderate” Molinaro Has His Eyes Set on Hair-Raising Cuts to Essential Programs
BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK — A group of monsters gathered today outside Congressman Molinaro’s Binghamton office to demand that he oppose a number of hair-raising funding cuts currently being pushed by far-right members of Congress, led by newly elected Speaker Mike Johnson. Empire State Voices was joined by volunteers from Citizen Action of New York and Indivisible Binghamton for a Halloween-themed protest drawing attention to the current fight over government funding in Congress.

Rep. Molinaro voted for a bill that would have cut funding for most federal programs by 30 percent. Cuts like these would take away food assistance from women and infants, reduce housing assistance for low-income families, and cut access to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
Last week, the so-called “moderate” voted to elect hard-right Speaker Mike Johnson, who has championed efforts to gut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
“With Marc Molinaro haunting the halls of Congress, people in his district are frightened of the severe funding cuts to come,” said Spencer Noble, NY-19 Organizing Director for Empire State Voices. “Last month, we saw him take off his moderate mask and vote to cut almost all federal programs by 30 percent, putting New Yorkers at risk. Then he helped elect Mike Johnson to the Speakership, who’s made it his goal to slash these programs that so many New Yorkers rely on. Marc Molinaro needs to remember that it’s everyday families like these that he’s supposed to represent.”
“Marc Molinaro’s draconian cuts are horrifying and would destroy families throughout the district,” said Ravo Root, Community Organizer with Citizen Action of New York. “We must continue to call his office, email, and attend events whenever possible to urge him that these cuts are unacceptable.”
