One Year After the Inflation Reduction Act Passage, Rep. Marc Molinaro Voted to Repeal Programs Creating Jobs in His District

NEW YORK — As Americans celebrated the anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act becoming law, Republicans are trying to take credit for the positive outcomes of the landmark legislation. Since its passing, investments from the Inflation Reduction Act have spurred over $100 billion in private investment across New York alone, helping create more than 13,500 high-paying jobs.

According to POLITICO, small-town Republicans appreciate and support the billions of dollars in investment in their communities, a stark contrast to their GOP congressional representatives.

One such representative, Congressman Marc Molinaro (NY-19), voted to repeal the parts of the Inflation Reduction Act that are leading to manufacturing investments and hundreds of jobs in his district. New Yorkers deserve representation that works for legislation that invests in our communities, not against it.

Key excerpts below:

POLITICO: The small-town Republicans who love IRA

  • “There’s even a similar, but less dramatic, dynamic unfolding in upstate New York. GOP Rep. Marc Molinaro voted to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean energy incentives, and that’s made him a top target of Democrats in the 2024 election. His district is one of 18 that voted for Biden but are held by Republicans.”

  • “Inflation Reduction Act money catalyzed Canadian company Zinc8 Energy Solutions’ decision to locate a planned battery factory in Molinaro’s purple district.”

  • “The project is expected to bring up to 500 new jobs to a Hudson Valley region still suffering from the loss of its manufacturing base in the 1990s. That’s exciting James Quigley, a Republican who drives a Tesla and is the supervisor for the town of Ulster, where Zinc8 plans to locate.”
