New New York State Advocacy Campaign Launches Ads Calling Out Rep. Brandon Williams for Choosing Billionaires Over Veterans’ Health Care
SYRACUSE, NEW YORK — Today, a new New York state advocacy organization, Empire State Voices, which fights for economic policies that make life more affordable for New Yorkers, launched an ad in the Syracuse Post-Standard along with a 5-figure digital ad buy holding Rep. Brandon Williams (NY-22) accountable for protecting major tax breaks to billionaires while slashing benefits for veterans.
Rep. Williams was one of the deciding votes on McCarthy’s Default on America Act – which would cut funding for health services that over 40,000 veterans in his district rely on.
Maria Martinez, Executive Director of Empire State Voices, had this to say:
“Congressman Williams has repeatedly voted with his party line, even when it means putting our most vulnerable families at risk. His vote on McCarthy’s default bill threatens the economic security and health benefits of veterans, children, low-income families, seniors, and many more in Central and Western New York. He continues to side with billionaires rather than with New York families and to bring the country closer to a dangerous default – and we will continue to hold him and his fellow House Republicans accountable.
Empire State Voices is planning to formally launch at the end of this month, but we felt that the New Yorkers in the 22nd district need to know the impact of Rep. Williams’ vote immediately.”
