Congressman Molinaro Announces Support for Far-Right Rep. Jim Jordan for Speaker
The Once-Moderate Rep. Has Taken a Hard-Right Turn In A Matter Of Weeks
NEW YORK — Congressman Marc Molinaro told reporters today that he supports far-right Representative Jim Jordan in the race to elect a new Speaker of the House. Rep. Jordan is a founding member and the current Vice Chair of the House Freedom Caucus, infamous for his role in stirring up far-right “culture wars” and performative political stunts.

“Congressman Molinaro’s support for Jim Jordan to become Speaker is just one more step along the unfortunate trajectory he’s taken towards the far-right. Rep. Molinaro has tried to brand himself as a 'responsible moderate' who is willing to work with problem-solvers on both sides of the aisle, but he’s shown us his true colors over the past few weeks. He’s abandoned any pretense of fighting for his constituents, working instead with extremists like Rep. Matt Gaetz to slash funding for key programs that New Yorkers rely on. Falling in line behind Jim Jordan for Speaker is the final nail in the coffin for any claim he might have had on calling himself a ‘moderate.’”
