ICYMI: Tarrytown Residents Rally Against Planned Federal Cuts to Health Care Programs
Congressman Mike Lawler Recently Voted for a Budget Plan that Threatens Medicare, Medicaid
TARRYTOWN, NEW YORK — Over the weekend, around 500 Tarrytown residents gathered for a rally in Patriot’s Park, speaking out against recent efforts by Congressional Republicans to potentially gut federal healthcare programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Organized by Northern Westchester Indivisible, the rally brought together a huge crowd of local New Yorkers across different backgrounds, occupations, and political identities, unified under a simple message: “Hands off the programs we rely on!”
Amid the coalition were a number of local advocacy organizations and labor groups, including Empire State Voices, 1199SEIU, New York State Nurses Association, and Communications Workers of America.

Last month, Representative Mike Lawler voted for the House GOP’s budget resolution, which authorized committees to cut up to $2 trillion in funding from federal programs and services. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has found that these goals will be impossible to achieve without steep cuts to Medicare or Medicaid.
