SPOTTED: Empire State Voices Unveils Mobile Billboard Outside Rep. Williams and Speaker Johnson’s High-Dollar New Hartford Fundraiser
Part of a Broader Paid Media Effort, Billboard Demands that Rep. Williams Stop Protecting Rich Tax Cheats
UTICA, NEW YORK — Today, Empire State Voices (ESV) unveiled a mobile billboard truck outside a high-dollar fundraiser held by Congressman Brandon Williams and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson at a country club outside Utica. The billboard demands that Rep. Williams oppose a Republican bill that seeks to claw back more than $25 billion in IRS funding, hamstringing the agency’s ability to go after wealthy tax cheats.
Today’s action is part of ESV’s broader paid media effort aimed at holding Rep. Williams accountable for voting against the interests of working people.

Rep. Williams has repeatedly voted to strip the IRS of the funding needed to audit billionaires and large corporations, making it easier for the ultra-wealthy to cheat on their taxes. The Congressional Budget Office has found that cuts to the IRS actually increase the deficit—meanwhile, every dollar spent on auditing the ultra-rich returns more than $12 in revenue.
“While Congressman Williams is wining and dining his wealthy donors at a swanky country club, countless New York families are struggling just to make ends meet,” said Maria Martinez, Executive Director of Empire State Voices. “Properly funding the IRS allows them to go after rich tax cheats and make sure they pay their fair share. So far, Rep. Williams and Speaker Johnson have sided with the corporations and tax dodgers—all we’re asking is for them to side with New York families instead.”
