Empire State Voices is Calling on Rep. Molinaro to Oppose Any Budget Amendments that Cut Funding to the Social Security Administration
GREENE COUNTY, NEW YORK — Today, Empire State Voices (ESV) launched a billboard truck to drive around the eastern part of New York’s 19th Congressional District, making stops in Leeds, Cairo, Saugerties, Catskill, and Hudson. The mobile billboard calls on Congressman Marc Molinaro to pass a budget that protects Upstate New Yorkers’ access to their Social Security benefits and highlights the Congressman’s record of voting to cut funding for the Social Security Administration. Today’s action, which comes as the House is locked in debate over 2024 funding, is part of ESV’s seven-figure paid media effort aimed at holding Rep. Molinaro accountable for voting against the interests of working people.

“I don’t know what my husband and I would do if it weren’t for Social Security,” said Susan, a resident of Hudson. “It’s incredibly scary to me that Congressman Molinaro continues to vote to cut funding for the Social Security Administration and make it harder for people like us to access our benefits. Marc Molinaro needs to stop talking out of both sides of his mouth and actually fight to protect the programs that his constituents here in Upstate New York depend on.”
Congressman Molinaro claims to be a staunch supporter of Social Security, but he’s voted multiple times to cut funding for the Social Security Administration since taking office last year. Cuts like these could force the agency to reduce staff and close hundreds of officesaround the country, leading to longer wait times and making it harder for millions of New Yorkers to access their benefits. Empire State Voices is calling on Rep. D’Esposito to stand up for his constituents and oppose any budget amendments that would reduce the Social Security Administration’s funding.
