ICYMI: After Repeated Pressure, Rep. Molinaro Announces He Will Vote to Censure George Santos, But Fails to Support Efforts to Expel
NEW YORK — On Tuesday, Representative Marc Molinaro announced that he would vote in favor of a censure resolution against his colleague, Rep. George Santos, which has been introduced by House Democrats. While he has publicly called for Rep. Santos’ resignation, Molinaro joined Republicans back in May to delay an effort to expel the indicted Congressman.
Empire State Voices published an open letter following the vote, calling on New York Republicans to stop shielding Santos from accountability.
“Over the past several months, Empire State Voices has joined with local advocacy groups and constituents here in New York to demand our Representatives put their constituents above the interests of their party,” said Maria Martinez, Executive Director of Empire State Voices. “We are happy to see this public pressure begin to pay off, but censure alone is insufficient. George Santos lied to and defrauded the people of his district and must be removed from office immediately. Rep. Molinaro failed to support the effort to expel him back in May and continues to fall short now.”
